Independent laboratory

Our work begins with a question, not a pitch.

“The ambition of an institution. The agility of an individual.”

Saor R&D is an independent laboratory working across software engineering, systems design, and applied research.

We investigate ideas by making them concrete: building prototypes, examining assumptions, designing experiments, and following the results wherever they lead.

How we work

Understandable, verifiable, accountable.

Our interests include systems that preserve engineering knowledge, privacy-oriented digital infrastructure, user-controlled computing, and new approaches to difficult technical problems. We believe capable technology should remain understandable, verifiable, and accountable to the people who use it.

01

Lead with purpose.

Begin with the real need, the intended outcome, and the boundary of the work.

02

Work with autonomy.

Keep projects independently owned, locally operable, and explicit about their decisions.

03

Challenge with evidence.

Separate promising ideas from demonstrated behavior through experiments and verification.

04

Judge by results.

Evaluate work by what can be observed, reproduced, and understood.

Selected work

Different questions. A common engineering philosophy.

Our research and development activities span several areas, connected by an interest in understandable, reliable, and user-controlled systems.

Developmental system

TPMS

How can engineering knowledge, decisions, and supporting evidence remain useful as development moves between people, agents, and working sessions?

Long-term developmental platform

The Commons

What would a digital third place look like if community, user ownership, privacy, and meaningful interaction were foundational design concerns?

Experimental research

AHRN

Can more informed decisions about reconstruction pathways provide useful tradeoffs between storage, computation, dependencies, and reuse?
